Moeris was formed in 1893, and was purchased by Tissot sometime after 1977, but presumably before Tissot itself was acquired by Swatch in 1983. Moeris was considered a higher mid-range brand.
They became significantly more known amongst the horological community once they were contacted by the British Ministry of Defence to produce watches for the Army Trade Pattern pieces to be issued to officers fighting in the Second World War.
